Veterans Affairs Electronic Health Record System

From your first day of military service through your last, the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs Information Exchange work together in a cohesive unit to enable a service member's electronic health record to follow them throughout their active duty career and after service transition with the Veterans Affairs. The DOD and VA lead many inter-agency data sharing activities and improve the sharing of electronic health information through delivery of information technology solutions. Information technology solutions improve interoperability and enhances health care delivery to beneficiaries while improving the continuity of care from health care providers. Additionally, information technology solutions improves the current electronic health record by advancing current processes and creating efficiencies in the delivery of health care.
