What is a Electronic Health Record (EHR)?

An electronic health record (EHR) is a digital version of a patient's paper chart. EHRs are a real-time, patient-centered records that make information available instantly and securely to authorized users (HealthIT.gov, 2019).

What does a electronic health records contain?

Electronic health records are important because it provides convenience and ease of access to medical history, diagnoses, medications, treatments plans, immunization records,allergies, radiology images, laboratory and test result (HealthIT.gov, 2019)

Why should veterans have access to their electronic health record?

Access to a electronic health record will enable veterans to have their health records easily accessible for situations that require it. EHRs provide ease of access and enables a veteran to take control of their own health and view all information inputted by their provider and see results from test or films that have been ordered.
