Today we will be discussing three different aggregated healthcare reports. An aggregated report collects data within a selected criteria and aggregates it into totals. By using these reports, organizations, not to only include healthcare, can view data results of desired data that can potentially help in making decisions to help optimize their organization.
One report I often seen used in the emergency department that I work in are patient census and left without being seen reports (Harris, 2018). At the start of every day a patient census report is viewed to see how many patients were seen and treated in the emergency department the previous day. The report findings is mentioned during leadership meetings to view trends that are occurring in the ED. Also included in the report are the number of patients who left the ED after checking in and was not seen by a provider, either because of wait times or personal reasoning. This reports allows the ED to see if improvements need to be made and if providers scheduling need to be reorganized to better fit the influx of patients, in order to reduce the numbers of patients leaving without getting medical attention.
Another report that can be used by any organization is an aggregated spending reports (AHRQ, 2014). This kind of report will have data containing how much spending occurred during a given time and what that money was spent on. This kind of report will enable organizations to view where savings can occur and if supplies are required to be ordered. In addition, this report will help an organization view their current budget and how much money is left in their budget that can be used.
The last report I want to talk about is a aggregated safety report. Safety reports is another report that can be used by any organization. The data that is revealed when conducting a safety report will be information on accidents or safety violations that happen within the organization. The data can be used to evaluate risks that are present in the organization, which in turn will enable organizations to find ways that can improve the workplace environment to reduce accidents. The report can also reveal data that can determine if staff will need to be further educated in order to reduce violations or accidents from occurring.
